Daniel’s given food for thought when Mrs Crawshaw reveals that she’d like him to apply for a permanent teaching post at the school, and he’s grateful when his dad agrees to talk it over with him. However, Tracy’s enraged to see them sharing a laugh together and, calling at the barber’s shop, she tells David she’s got a plan to sabotage her brother’s career – and she needs his help.
It’s not long before Daniel buckles under the pressure of the situation, and after a long dark night of the soul, he heads to the school and asks to speak to Mrs Crawshaw in private. She’s disappointed when he announces he doesn’t think he’s cut out for teaching and has decided to quit, but he’s adamant he’s doing the right thing, and as news filters back to the Street, David’s thrilled by his foe’s fall from grace.
Back at the flat, a defeated Daniel tells Nicky he doesn’t feel he deserves to be a teacher after all the mistakes he’s made and, as she comforts him, she declares her love and suggests they could have a future together. Will a vulnerable Daniel respond to her advances, or is he still in love with Daisy?
