And when he’s not tasting authentic Lakota fare, he’s water-skiing, exploring celebrated local author Mark Twain, or taking a sobering look at the river’s long and agonising links to slavery.

FRIDAY

Eurovision: Graham Meets Olly, followed by The Big Eurovision Party

BBC1, 10.40pm and BBC1, 10.55pm

Lots of Eurovision stuff around today and the contest isn’t even on until May. Tonight, Graham Norton, our Mr Eurovision, meets the man who’ll be representing us in Malmö, Sweden, this year, and on whom all UK hopes are pinned – Olly Alexander. Last year was a washout for the UK after Sam Ryder had done so well the year before, so maybe this universally popular popinjay can bring home the bacon? Let’s see…

And then, hardcore Eurovision aficionados will love the nostalgia on offer tonight, as some famous names celebrate the contest’s legacy by giving us an encore of their classic songs. Among those performing from the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam are Austrian drag queen Conchita Wurst, who tasted triumph in 2014 with the dramatic Rise Like A Phoenix. Meanwhile, Rylan Clark is on hand to interview the stars backstage.
