Marple

Julia McKenzie will return as sleuthing Miss Marple when she films three more cases for ITV1 next year.
‘I’m delighted to be back. It’s a huge privilege for me to play Miss Marple. After such a successful career I was content to play guest roles, but then Marple came along. How could I not play her?’ says Julia McKenzie about the classic character created by whodunnit queen Agatha Christie.
‘I love her shrewd intelligence, and yet she has a warmth and a sweetness that is so disarming. I find it stimulating watching how her insights into human nature can unlock big complex mysteries.’
A Caribbean Mystery will be the first story filmed next summer. When Miss Marple holidays in a luxurious tropical hotel, her break is shattered by the suspicious death of Major Palgrave, meaning she is soon on the trail of his killer…
Two further cases – Endless Night and The Seven Dials Mystery – will also be filmed next autumn.
‘We fully intend to maintain our reputation for adapting Agatha Christie’s fascinating stories to the highest standard and attracting a first rate guest cast,’ adds executive producer Michele Buck.
