Sean Bean in Accused

Sean Bean will be dressing in drag for his role in Jimmy McGovern’s award-winning BBC1 series Accused.

‘I’ve wanted to work on a Jimmy McGovern drama for a while and I think this cracking script really delivers a powerful, emotional drama for the audience,’ says Sean.

The star of Lord Of The Rings, Sharpe, and Game Of Thrones, Sean Bean plays English teacher Simon who has an alter ego Tracie. But Tracie’s unusual quest for love entangles him in an affair that leads to a terrible crime of passion.

Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire, This Is England) plays satellite and aerial engineer Tony in the episode, with Rachel Leskovac (Coronation Street, Holby City) playing his beautician wife Karen. Once the trio’s paths cross, their lives change forever.

Meanwhile, BAFTA-winner Anna Maxwell Martin stars in another episode of Accused as overstretched married mum-of-three Tina Dakin. She is also a prison officer at a juvenile detention centre, and something feels wrong when new inmate Stephen Cartwright (Robert Sheehan) arrives. Later though she meets Stephen’s father Peter (John Bishop) in terrible circumstances.
