Death In Paradise
Sainte-Marie may be an idyllic Caribbean setting, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get its fair share of grisly killings in BBC1's Death In Paradise.
Starring Ben Miller as quintessential Englishman Detective Inspector Richard Poole, who insists on wearing his woollen suit and tie despite the tropical temperatures, he’s joined by local cop Camille (Sara Martins) in the eight-part series.
With five more cases for the pair still to investigate in the show that was filmed on the Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe, here’s a sneak preview of some of the well-known faces that will be guest-starring in the coming weeks.
Tuesday, 15 November: It’s all a bit puzzling when holidaymaker Megan Talbot (Miranda Raison, left) admits to shooting her husband Lucas (Neil Stuke) dead. When Richard turns up there is no body. But Megan is arrested after fishermen pull a corpse out of the sea. However, something smells a bit fishy…
Tuesday, 22 November: Ann Hamilton, played by Sophie Winkleman (right), has her fraudster husband’s body cremated after he is stabbed to death while in Richard’s custody, and then immediately books herself on a flight following his murder. Richard is sure though she has a connection to his killing.
Meanwhile, the DI is also far from happy when murder mystery enthusiast Suzie Park (Sarah Smart, left) is a bit too keen to be considered a suspect.
Tuesday, 29 November: Dwayne and Fidel have to solve the murder of local driver Benjamin Lightfoot when Richard is struck down by a tropical disease and Camile is called to Paris. They are helped by the holidaying DS Angela Young (Shirley Henderson, right).
Following a night on the booze, Mark Lightfoot is spotted by his boss Phil Owen and by Dwayne going diving the following morning. But when he fails to return, Mark raises the alarm. Phil’s wife Alex Owen (Lisa Faulkner, left) helps in the search, where they discover Benjamin’s body in shallow waters…
