Food shows certainly seem to be flavour of the month right now, so we thought it was about time we gave them their own award. It was a tough battle, with James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen taking on the irrepressible Hairy Bikers and quirky Heston’s Feasts. But did fans decide their winner was no-nonsense Gordon, who pitted the nation’s best local restaurants against each other? Yes, chef!
'We put 150 per cent into everything we do. So it’s travelling at a 1,000mph and it’s trying to make it the sort of new rock and roll,' says Gordon about the show. 'I suppose it’s taking the intimidation out of it, making it fun. We’ve got four children, so also getting the message across that you’ve got to eat well to live well.’
