It was always going to be tricky following Susan Boyle, but this year’s BGT introduced us to a whole host of new wacky acts, including coin-swallowing Stevie Starr, performing dog Chandi with owner Tina and this year’s worthy winners, gymnastic troupe Spelbound. As ever, Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell pulled no punches, while perennial TV favourites Ant and Dec giggled from the wings.
'It's a family show and you never know what to expect from it, unlike The X Factor where you know exactly what you are going to get,' says Britain's Got More Talent presenter Stephen Mulhern.
'It's such a big variety show and that is what has been missing from TV for a long time. I think that is why the appeal is so huge.'
