One star who rarely goes home from our Awards empty handed is Geordie livewire Denise, who last year scooped three gongs for her work on Waterloo Road and as one of the Loose Women. This year, Denise has announced she’s saying adieu to the role of former French teacher Steph Haydock, but the show’s loyal viewers couldn’t resist giving her another prize for her trophy cabinet.
'I love my character and I think that Steph provides an amazing cringeability factor, so people kind of watch it behind closed hands,' says Denise.
'For an eight o'clock slot I think we have a lot of issues in Waterloo Road that the kids and the adults can relate to.'
